This recipe is perfect for the winter season and is packed with flavor from the bathua greens and a special spice blend. It's also easy to make at home and perfect for packing in lunchboxes. Follow along as I show you step-by-step how to make this tasty dish.
Ingredients:
Bathua leaves (adjust according to preference)
Urad dal (whole black gram) - soaked for a few hours
Wheat flour
Spices: Cumin seeds, coriander seeds, black peppercorns, red chili powder (optional) Ginger, garlic, green chilies (optional) Salt to taste Oil for kneading and frying
Instructions: Prepare the Bathua: Wash and blanch the bathua leaves. Grind them into a smooth paste.
Prepare the Urad Dal: Grind the soaked urad dal with spices, ginger, garlic, and green chilies (if using) into a coarse paste.
Make the Dough: Combine wheat flour, bathua paste, urad dal paste, salt, and oil. Knead into a soft dough. Let it rest for 30 minutes.
Shape and Fry the Pooris: Make small balls from the dough, roll them out into thin circles. Deep fry the pooris in hot oil until golden brown and puffed.
Tips: You can adjust the amount of spices according to your preference.
For extra flavor, add chopped coriander leaves to the dough.
Serve the Masala Bathua Poori with pickle, chutney, or a potato curry of your choice. I hope this helps!
